Made from Real Japanese Persimmon
No synthetic preservatives, no artificial fragrance, no filler. Eight ingredients chosen to neutralize nonenal at the source.
Diospyros Kaki Leaf Extract
Japanese persimmon. Tannins bind nonenal at the molecular level — the only botanical that breaks the compound down instead of masking it.
Camellia Sinensis Catechins
Green tea antioxidants. Pair with persimmon to break down odor compounds while calming aging skin.
Hydrolyzed Collagen
Pre-broken peptides that absorb. Replaces some of what aging skin loses every day.
Glycerin
A humectant that pulls moisture into the skin. Stops the bar from being drying with daily use.
Shea Butter
Unrefined — vitamins A and E. Counterbalances the cleansing action so skin doesn't tighten.
Sodium Palmate
RSPO-certified plant-based soap base. Carries every other ingredient onto the skin.
Stearic Acid
Naturally-occurring fatty acid. Keeps the bar firm and helps skin retain moisture.
Disodium EDTA
A trace stabilizer. Keeps the persimmon active for the bar's full shelf life.

Worth it
I'm 65 and my husband mentioned a strange odor on my clothes that I couldn't smell on myself. It was embarrassing and made me self conscious. Tried switching deodorants, body washes, nothing worked. After a week of using Bloomly he said the smell was gone. I asked twice to make sure he wasn't just being nice lol. Pricey but I'll buy again.
Bought for my mom
Got this for my 71 year old mother as a gift, told her it was a fancy Japanese soap. She loves it. The smell at her house is gone — that musty thing on her cardigan and the couch I won't lie I had been noticing for like a year. I'd never tell her why I really bought it. She thinks I just got her a nice present.
It actually works
I'm 67 and don't think I have the smell yet but I vividly remember it from my grandmother's house. The couch especially. Started using this as a precaution. My daughter said I smell wonderful and asked what perfume I'm wearing. It's just the soap. I don't tell her about the nonenal stuff because she's only 35 but I'll send her a bar one day.
The pillow
Lifted my pillow to my face every morning for years and there it was. Tried every detergent. New pillows 3 different times!! Bought new sheets. The smell came back every morning because the smell was on me — not the bedding. Took me almost 2 years to figure it out. Three weeks of this soap and the pillow smells like nothing now. Just air.
Stopped showering twice a day
Before grandkids came over I would shower 30 min before they walked in. Then again while they ate lunch. Never told anyone. After about a month with Bloomly I shower once in the morning like a normal person. The anxiety just left. Pricey for a bar of soap but cheaper than the body washes I was buying.
My sweaters smell normal again
Threw out 3 wool cardigans last year because something was off. Dry cleaned them, hung them outside, nothing helped. Realized the smell wasn't on the sweaters it was on me. Two weeks of using this and the cardigans I kept smell like wool again. I had no idea this was even a real thing. Wish someone told me sooner.
Use as precaution
I'm 64. I've heard about nonenal from a friend whose mother had it terribly the last 10 years of her life. I don't think I have it yet but I'm not waiting to find out. The soap is gentle and lathers well. Smells subtle which I like. Won't use anything else now.
Bought it for myself first
I'm 64 and I read about kareishu in an article on the Japanese take on aging. Didn't think I had it. Bought a bar because the worst case was I just got a nice soap. About 6 weeks later I noticed my husband stopped opening the bedroom window at night. He used to do that every night. I never connected it. Now I do.
My daughter visits longer now
She used to come for 2 days. Drive home Sunday afternoon. Last visit she stayed almost 5 days?? Asked if she could come back next month. I never said anything to her about anything. I read about this nonenal stuff online and ordered a bar. Don't know what fixed it but something did. Wish I had ordered this years ago.
Mom went to a wedding
Mom was being quietly cut from her friend group's lunches. Found out from photos on Facebook. Heartbreaking to watch as her daughter. Gave her this for her birthday and didn't say why. Two months later she went to a wedding she didn't even know they were going to. She thinks her friends warmed up. They didn't, mom did. I'll never tell her.
Class reunion
Hadn't seen most of these people in 40 years. Was nervous about everything. Started using this 2 months before. Hugged my old roommate for the first time without thinking about it. Realized that's the thing I had lost — not thinking about it. Pricey for a soap. Worth every penny.
Buying for myself now too
Bought this for my mother first. Watched what it did. Then I read that nonenal starts in your 40's and I'm 47 — so I started using it on myself. Skin feels better honestly, that's a bonus. I never want my own daughter to be in the position I was in with my mom. Knowing and not knowing how to say it.
It's called kareishu. And your nose can't smell it on you.
In Japan they have a word for the scent that develops as we get older — kareishu, literally "aging smell." It comes from an oil called nonenal that your body produces more of after 40. The cruel part: your nose adapts to your own scent the same way it stops noticing your own perfume after 10 minutes. You can't smell it on yourself. The people closest to you can.
Real persimmon extract concentrated enough to actually neutralize nonenal at the source — what Japanese seniors have used for generations.
A trace amount of extract for marketing purposes. Smells nice. Doesn't carry enough tannin density to dissolve the oil bonded to your skin.
Marketing dressed in Japanese aesthetics. Often no real persimmon. Charges premium prices for cherry blossom scent and a bamboo bottle.
Kills surface bacteria. Strips the good bacteria too. Doesn't touch the oil — which is why showering twice a day still doesn't work.
Built to wash away water-based dirt. Nonenal is oil-based. Water-based soap simply slides over it. The compound stays. The pillow still smells.
Based on a 2024 internal survey of 2,400+ Bloomly users compared with self-reported satisfaction data on competitor persimmon and conventional soap products. Persimmon extract concentration verified by third-party laboratory analysis.
